100%'ers!

Jamie, Niwa, Briana, Natasha, Nadia Shontelle and Sharon all achieved 100% in their Essential List 7 Spelling List, with Jamie also scoring an impressive 100% in the Commonly Misspelt Words!
They attribute their success to having a teacher that has lots of spelling.
Congratulations to all our top spellers!

3 x 4B in Writing!

Last Wednesday we had to take a writing test. Jayden thought that it was going to be really hard, but it was really easy. Maygan said that Ms Clydesdale a whole lot of good stuff about how to make the writing interesting. Briana thought it was really hard remembering all the information about her ancestors.
Jayden, Maygan and Briana all got a 4B in the test, this means that they are the top in the class. They are supposed to be 3A at the end of the year, and the expected level for Year 7's is 4B, so they are ready for next year!
Well done girls!

Our Dvorak Bottle Song:

This morning we read an article called 'The Whispering Giant' about a great organ in the Wellington Town Hall. Once we read it, we got some bottles and filled them with different levels of water, and played Dvorak's 'New World Symphony' which we know as Darth Vader's entrance.
It was a very fun activity to do.

Niwa's 2nd learning victory:

On Friday I was awarded the WPS Learning Trophy for Spelling, writing complex sentences on Renata Kawepo, and going up 5 sub-levels in my writing.
I feel happy and proud. Mum was happy, too, because it was the second time I've got it.
Ms Clydesdale was proud as well, saying it was a successful partnership between Ms Clydesdale, mum and me.
Dad was happy and said well done!

Ben and Jaydens' Victory:

The competition this morning was stiff between Ben, Jayden, Jamie, Aidan, Natasha and Maygan for the spelling gold medals!
It was hard as, because we had to go back and spell glockenspiel 10 times but luckily, Jamie and Aidan had to spell two words ten times each.
Natasha and Maygan were so close, but Jayden distracted them with her awesome talking powers.
Ben and Jayden said it's awesome to come first, and it's one less medal for Jayden's goals!

May is New Zealand Music Month:

New zealand Music month is a month dedicated to all musicians in New Zealand.

We are making instruments like tambourines and shakers. This week and last week we've been focussing on one particular song called 'E papa waiari' an acapella song by Herbs. We have tried to learn some of the lyrics, but it's quite hard, because it's all in Maori.

It's awesome studying New Zealand Music, because it's easier for me to work with music on.

Jamie's drum kit:

Last night, I made a kind of drum kit with plastic plates, macaroni elbows, staples, plastic cups, and metal pot lids.
I stapled two plastic plates together and I did that twice. I made another one with macaroni inside, and then I got two plastic cups and put one pot lid on each.
My drumsticks were forks with wooden handles and I hit the drums with the wooden part of the fork.
I thought it was pretty cool and noisy!

Yesterday's jam session:

Yesterday we made instruments with Room 12 out of paper plates and macaroni. We worked with our buddies and decorated them to make them look cool.
We also had a jam session with the instruments we played. We jammed with Tiki Taane, New Zealand singer-songwriter. It was real fun, we all enjoyed it!
