Successful Speech Competition!

The final session of Room 11's speech competition was held this morning after morning tea, with our special adjudicators, Rose and Arabella.

Maddy, Sage and Samuel were the top Year 5 speeches, with Ben as reserve. The Year 6 competition was very tough, with Jayden, Phoebe, Briana and Sharon being choosen, and Maygan is the reserve.

We were also lucky that three parents came and enjoyed our speeches. Hopefully, we will have more parents watching next Friday, when we compete against the other Year 5 and Year 6 students .

3 x 4B in Writing!

Last Wednesday we had to take a writing test. Jayden thought that it was going to be really hard, but it was really easy. Maygan said that Ms Clydesdale a whole lot of good stuff about how to make the writing interesting. Briana thought it was really hard remembering all the information about her ancestors.
Jayden, Maygan and Briana all got a 4B in the test, this means that they are the top in the class. They are supposed to be 3A at the end of the year, and the expected level for Year 7's is 4B, so they are ready for next year!

Ben and Jaydens' Victory:

The competition this morning was stiff between Ben, Jayden, Jamie, Aidan, Natasha and Maygan for the spelling gold medals!
It was hard as, because we had to go back and spell glockenspiel 10 times but luckily, Jamie and Aidan had to spell two words ten times each.
Natasha and Maygan were so close, but Jayden distracted them with her awesome talking powers.
Ben and Jayden said it's awesome to come first, and it's one less medal for Jayden's goals!

Room 11's Top NZ Brains!

Natasha, Finn, Nadia, Jamie, Jack, Maygan and Samuel all scored a massive NINE in the PAT tests that Room 11 has just finished, that makes them some of the cleverest brains in the country!

Natasha scored a stanine 9 for both Reading Comprehension and Reading Vocabulary.

Finn was going for a massive THREE Stanine 9's and missed out by one frustrating point, but with 2 stanine 9's under his belt and a stanine 8, we could call him 'Super Brain'! Impressive Finn!

Congratulations Jamie and Maygan!

It is the start of the PAT testing season and Room 11 kicked off with the Year 6 Listening PAT test, and both Jamie and Maygan scored a whopping stanine 9!

This is the highest mark you can get and puts them in the top 5% in New Zealand - well done, Jamie and Maygan!

The Year 5's will be tested on their listening skills tomorrow.
